Fly to Europe for 13,000 points when you stack Flying Blue Promo Rewards with transfer bonuses

From paid ticket sales to redemption promotions, there are seemingly endless opportunities to book travel at a discount.

But few sales are as reliable as the Promo Rewards we see each month from Air France-KLM Flying Blue. These deals regularly appear on the Flying Blue website and offer a discount on flights to and from select city or region pairs. All discounts are only bookable through the end of the month, and there’s a set travel window.

Fly Delta One to Germany for just 39,000 points each way

Delta is currently offering a fair amount of saver-level business class award space between John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Frankfurt Airport (FRA), as first reported by Thrifty Traveler Premium. This means that you can book these seats through partners — and potentially for much fewer miles. For instance, Virgin Atlantic Flying Club charges just 50,000 points one-way for nonstop Delta business class flights between the U.S. and Europe.

Being able to pay just 50,000 Flying Club points for these awards is pretty great considering that Delta charges upwards of 170,000 SkyMiles each way. But it gets even better. Through June 15, 2022, Chase Ultimate Rewards is offering a 30% bonus on transfers to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, dropping the price of these awards to just 39,000 Chase points.

The widest swath of inventory appears to be available over the summer, though there’s scattered availability in the fall and into the winter so your best bet would be to play around with the award calendar on Virgin’s website.

Even if Frankfurt isn’t at the top of your travel list, you can use this availability to get to Europe and then book cheap tickets elsewhere. Likewise, it could be worth booking a positioning flight if you’re not based in the New York City area.
